Flume Magazine Spotlight

Another artist project? Big shocker.

Flume is a favorite artist of mine, but what was cool about designing a magazine spread for this project was being able to imagine telling the story from his quick rise to fame and the fabled festivals that turned a crowd of unknowing listeners into adoring fans. Capturing this feeling and relating to his strange, otherworldly aesthetic while making a readable page was a fun assignment.

The spikes on the first page draws the users across the page while resembling the sound waves you might record from your music. Mixed in between are design elements from his latest release of the time, Hi, This Is Flume. Continuing with the geometric theme of simple shapes, I continued to find and design elements that mimicked the sharp nature of the intro page. Rays of color extend from Flume in the lower left, while more spikes explode behind him on the fourth and final page.

This project helped me understand the value of visual elements creating a feeling for a highlight piece, working alongside the article I chose to help tell Flume's story.

The images and article used in this project were not created by me and were used for educational purposes.
